Disclaimer: All the Final Fantasy characters in this series of ficlets and/or short stories belong to those talented people at Square/Enix or whatever they are called now.
This is a series of Valentine's Day fics. Not all of them will contain smut, but they all are from the FF8 fandom, and the main pairing is, of course, Irvine and Squall. This will also be generally silly, have sappy moments and will hopefully be fun for you to read and fun for me to write. Enjoy.
This is YAOI - boys with boys, caring, desiring, kissing, hugging, groping…um, yeah…but that’s why you’re reading this, yes?
Book of Love: Voucher 30
By Garden's Gnome
Sighing quietly as the sun slipped beneath the horizon Squall wrapped Irvine’s arms more tightly around his body, already feeling the loss of the sun’s warmth.
“Cold?” Irvine’s asked, breath warm against the brunette’s ear.
“Just a little,” Squall replied.
“Well you were the one who decided to wear just a shirt and shorts,” the cowboy said as he removed his duster and draped it around his lover, turning Squall in his arms so he could hold him close.
“I didn’t expect to be staying out this late or I would have changed into something warmer,” Squall said against Irvine’s chest as arms slipped under the duster and around his waist.
“You never specified the time of day for me to fulfil the latest voucher, love. And we were both busy with classes today.”
“Yeah,” Squall agreed quietly.
“I did warn you that it might be cold later,” Irvine said.
“You’ve made your point, Irvine,” Squall grumbled, snuggling closer.
“Any closer and you’re going to be inside my skin, love,” the sniper said with a soft chuckle. “Should we be walking?” he asked, recalling the words on the piece of paper that Squall had given him that morning. Love Voucher: Walk on the Beach.
“But I’m comfy here,” Squall said with a pout as Irvine pulled back, taking some of the warmth with him.
“You’re also getting cold, Squall. You getting cold is a bad idea seeing as just a day ago you were sick. We should head back before Dr K finds out and skins me alive.”
Lacing their fingers together, Irvine tugged Squall along the beach towards where they’d left the Garden car they had borrowed. Sand squelched in between their toes, squeaking as they strolled along. Irvine marvelled at how quiet it was now that the sun had set and all the creatures were settling down for the night.
“Still got Diablos junctioned?” Irvine asked his quiet lover, receiving an absent-minded nod in reply. “Squall?” Irvine called out quietly, knowing the brunette was probably thinking about something.
“Hmmm? Oh, I was just thinking about how nice it was to get away from everything for a couple of hours. This weekend will be nice.”
“Yeah, until we get to Esthar,” Irvine grumbled under his breath.
“Dad isn’t that bad,” Squall said in his father’s defence.
“I know that,” Irvine said, briefly squeezing his lover’s fingers. “I just want to be selfish and have you all to myself.”
“I like having you all to myself too,” Squall said, stopping Irvine and pressing their lips together briefly. “But that’ll be unlikely to happen once we get back from Esthar.”
“Why?” Irvine asked, once again wrapping his arms around his lover.
“What’s Sefie got to do with this?” Irvine asked, gazing down into slightly worried looking blue eyes.
“Well,” Squall began, looking away from his lover,” I kind of promised that we would all help with whatever preparations she needed to make for Valentine’s Day,” Squall mumbled quietly. “And I also agreed we would bring the Garden to Winhill to collect her and Fuujin.”
“You heard me,” Squall said with a small glare. “It was one of her stipulations for going. We all have to help her, even me. Remind me to tell Nida we have to be in Winhill in a couple of days. Hopefully he won‘t burn out the engines trying to get there sooner.”
“Well, I have no idea what to say,” Irvine said, removing his hat and scratching his head a bit.
“There’s nothing to say. Seifer wanted to come back to the Garden and Zell; Quistis is busy helping Cid with the Esthar Science Camp plans and there was no way I was sending you to Winhill.”
“Nice to see you’ve got your priorities straight,” Irvine said with a grin as he bent down for a kiss.
“I do try,” Squall said, also smiling as he tilted his face up for the kiss.
